A ‘rare look’ at a common experience

I can only hope that the enormous prevalence of sexual assault perpetrators and victims on-campus humanizes and grounds the McKenna case in a frightening reality.
I hope that every group will begin to actually explore what each candidate has accomplished and the extent of their institutional knowledge.
Last Saturday, the Democratic National Committee, the formal governing body of the national Democratic Party, held its first contested election for its Chair position since 1985.
We, the nation, now find ourselves trapped in a cave created and maintained by a man who willfully and openly rejects the happenings of the natural world.
It’s a credit to Duke University that one of our own Blue Devils, out of all the professional athletes of the NBA, was both perceptive enough to see past the illusion and brave enough to speak truth to power.
Some of the last words Srinivas Kuchibhotla ever heard were “get out of my country." Then he, along with two other Indian men, was shot in what can only be called a hate crime.
In this particular instance, the fight for more gender neutral bathroom options on campus has never been more salient.
So it was quite a surprise to me and many of my friends from China that an LNY show is scheduled at such a late time.
While we can rightfully interrogate the origins of wealth, it is unconducive to disparage its recipients just for their ability to buy Canada Goose coats. Rather, we can push for awareness of these inequities.
This is the “adaptation-level phenomenon” at work: the force that turns new and exciting into old and dull.

The notion that because the media attacks a partisan government it is thus lacking legitimacy is a perversion of the media’s entire purpose.
The Chronicle will be publishing endorsement letters for the 2017 Duke Student Government elections from Monday, Feb. 27 to Monday, March 6. The positions of president and executive vice president are available for endorsement. No endorsements will be published Tuesday, March 7 or Wednesday, March 8, the days of the election. The final deadline for endorsements will be 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 5.
Let’s talk about what equity looks like at Duke, and more so, let’s talk about what equity looks like in a land far, far away called the real world.

One morning in prenatal clinic I was catching up with a patient early in her second trimester. The patient’s morning sickness had abated and she was excited about her pregnancy.
Fear no one and nothing, for there is nothing that can harm you if you live with conviction and take no action that you would regret for the whole world to see.

If the price hikes come as a result of Duke’s provision of living wage, we feel Duke should shoulder at least an equal burden to that of its students in upholding such a commitment.
